This is an exciting opportunity to work in our Waltham, MA corporate office in the Boston area reporting to our VP of U.S. Sales. The Director of U.S. Sales Training will play a critical and significant role by developing Sales Representatives, establishing a solid foundational knowledge base in clinical understanding, scientific credibility, and business acumen. The Director will develop new hire curricula to include fundamentals of anatomy & physiology of the eye, ophthalmic surgical procedures, new product launch planning, account planning, selling skills, working in collaboration with BVI's Medical, Marketing, Legal & Quality/Regulatory organizations. The Director will lead the development of programs to reinforce sales competencies and enhance capabilities required to drive strategic objectives established by BVI's Global Leadership Team. Additionally, the Director will be a key contributor in developing all training-related content and planning for training breakout sessions (including development of training slide decks, planning for role-play sessions, etc.) The director will also have responsibility for training plans and deliverables related to any other mid-year sales meetings in connection with training during these sessions. The Director of Training must demonstrate a hands-on and collaborative approach to refine and build learning resources. The Director must demonstrate strong leadership, mentoring & coaching skills. As the training function grows, must be capable of managing/leading and developing future training professionals.
* Owns the business process for the U.S. Training function;
* Design & development of a training strategy aligned with business strategy & objectives
* In collaboration with Sales & Marketing, identify training gaps and create solutions to address. Ensure training content is robust and up-to-date.
*Develop quality standards for all sales & sales leadership positions, ensuring consistency of messaging & coaching in collaboration with Sales Leaders. Ensure training programs incorporate the latest trends and clinical techniques
* Design, develop, implement, and manage measurement criteria and process to assess training effectiveness & reporting requirements.
*Conduct Field Assessments as further assessment of training needs and training program effectiveness.
*Serve as the leader for organizing training at all sales meetings to include the annual National Sales Meeting (and logistics for workshops);
*Ensuring all training programs are compliant, regulatoryand meet medical & legal requirements.
Bachelor's degree in clincal specialty area or business-related discipline. Preferred: Doctor of Optometry or Certification as an Ophthalmic Technical Assistant.
A minimum of 3 years of corporate training experience in developing sales talent. Experience working with key performance indicators (metrics) and programs and initiatives that have improved sales performance. Preferred: 5+ years of experience of managing and delivering training in ophthalmology-related sales or medical device sales.
